2003 ford explorer tranny solenoid

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Thursday when I parked it it ran fine. Went to leave
and would not engage any gear. Had it towed
home. Sunday I went out to start it and look around
to see what it could be. Put it into gear and worked
fine like there was never a problem. Parked today
and when I went to leave, will not engage any gear
again. Anyway to bypass this so I can get it home?

check your neutral switch,
will the vehicle start? With that model explorer, if the battery is dead, it will not come out of gear. Maybe check the battery connections.
Yes. It starts right up. Just acts like every gear except park is neutral.
It did the same thing last week then just started working fine out of nowhere on Sunday so I thought it was good. But before I shut it off it did the same thing as before and was hesitating to go into reverse. Seems like when it does that, then it won't engage into gear once I shut it off. But then will start working again out of the blue.
