CV joint noise

Asked by MoSubie03 Feb 13, 2019 at 07:21 PM about the 2003 Subaru Outback Base Wagon

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car is sounding like a CV joint going out by the
thunking noise when turning. But it now is making
the same sound going down the highway in a
straight line. Just started the other day. But as I am
going down the road it kinda acts like it's causing
slipping. Is this normal for a CV joint or could it be
more than a CV joint?

No this is not normal. Have the suspension inspected and replace the CV joints if they are bad. Check the wheel bearings too.

Went in for oil change today. Told right front a el bad. Would be replaced under warranty. Car has been making thumping noise when turning right. Why was this just found? Was just in for oil change!
