Question type: General

Do this morning as I was driving to work my Buick
completely powered down I could even hear t in
my heater. I couldn’t give it any gas and it was
flashing the following messages “engine power
reduced” “service stabilitrak” and “service traction
control” it literally just would t do anything but
coast I could feel it cut while it idled. Now the
stabilitrak and traction control lights have been off
and on for about a week but my brakes are also
extremely bad so I thought maybe that’s why. They
hooked it up to a reader and it said I needed a new
canister purge valve but they couldn’t check any of
the lights because they weren’t on! Do you think
maybe they’re connected or is it something else?
Nothing like that has ever happened before.

We took it to the parts store and they hooked it up to the code reader and it just said that I need a canister purge valve. What the heck that is I have no clue they couldn’t even tell me so that’s the next thing to figure out! Thank you so much for taking time to answer my questions. I’m definitely a dumb girl when it comes to cars

This same thing has been happening to me. Mechanics have reviewed the codes and replaced several sensors and parts as well as cleaned various filters, etc. We have not found a solution yet. I am very interested in understanding what actually solves this.

I'm only guessing but if it's a valve for an EVAP canister, it might be telling the computer to lower or cut out fuel pressure.
