Oil pressure.

My trucks computer said to shut it off because of no oil pressure. I watched
the gauge go down real low then come back up to lower than where it
normally is. I had put on the diagnostic and it said oil sending unit was bad. I
took it and had the oil changed on it and the pressure it bad to where it
normall is. My question is could the filter have been stopped up a bit to cause
this problem and should I get it changed now that the pressure is back to
normal.

What is causing this is GM went an put a fine screen type basket under the oil pressure sending unit. What needs to be done is the oil pressure sending unit needs to be take out, then fish that screen out and clean it. They (GM) put it there for a reason, so put it back and reinstall the oil pressure unit. You may want to replace the oil pressure sending unit since it is out.
This causes erratic readings on the gauge.
Do I need to be worried about driving it?
No not at all, as long as the motor is not ticking or knocking, it will be fine. This is a common minor problem.
