periodic high idle 6.6 turbo

Asked by JWW Jul 29, 2011 at 08:53 PM about the 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

every once in a while i get a small pop noise from under the hood and my idle increases. this lasts for a few days and then goes away. when its doing it, my check engine light comes on and goes off intermittently and my shift points seem to change. i've tried to have the codes read but the guy tells me it's showing a mitsubishi code. does anybody have any suggestions?

Check the intercooler piping. sounds like you may have a loose coupler. (my brother had the very same problem on his SAAB 9-3 Turbo)

yes, the light was on when he checked it. it left both of us scratching our heads.
