Dash lights and gages work intermittently

Asked by Dennis Dec 25, 2017 at 12:46 AM about the 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis GS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Mercury Grand Marquis. The dash
lights and gages turn off and on randomly. I haven’t
noticed any pattern as to when or why the turn off
and on. All headlight and signal lights always work.
The radio stays on. Loose wire? Short? I have no
idea what it is.

Of course it could be a loose wire, very hard to find. If someone on this site knows if the Lighting Control Module also controls these lights. It's a factory recall that goes bad on these cars. Rebuilt ones on EBAY. (LCM)

Don’t know if you’re still having this problem but I had a bad idle air control valve on my 2000 grand marquis and I was riding around on it for a few a days. Today the warning lights were flickering on and off my head lights were dimming and then turned back on and my car even shut off on me. I changed the idle air control valve and my problem was fixed. Not sure how that made all that stuff malfunction but it fixed the problem for me so hopefully this helps
