Stalling

I have a 2008 Ford Escape 120,000 miles it stalled
at a stoplight it will restart but will not stay running
unless you keep your foot on the gas pedal it will
rev to 4000 and right at 4000 RPM engine starts
sputtering if you take your foot off the gas it will
die the check engine light did come on tempeh gas
pump light is on I just changed the fuel filter which
needed to be done the fuel that came out of the
filter was very dirty

Happened on a truck of mine, not sure how similar it is but my throttle position sensor was on its way out. Something to look into or test for resistance
