whining noise in engine co partment and cant pinpoint it, everything seems to be ok. any ideas?

2008 ford escape 3.0 v-6. Replaced alternator,all other pulleys seem to be
good. The whining noise is consistent and follows rpm. Any ideas how to
determine the location?

Pull the serpentine belt off and start the engine. Do not run the engine for more than a minute or so and see if the noise is gone. If the noise is gone then something the belt drives is the issue. Take a real good close look at the other bearings and pulleys. Could be alternator or power steering pump or something else.
