Whistling noise
Asked by yellowblip Nov 07, 2008 at 03:17 AM about the 2008 Chevrolet Aveo LT Sedan FWD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I just purchased a 2008 Chevy Aveo LT in July, brand new. It's at about 3000 miles now, but for about two months it's
been making a horrible whistling noise when I drive over 60. It sounds like it's coming from the front passenger side.
Anyone hear about this problem or know what it might be?

Check and make sure the weatherstriping around the door is on correctly.
My wife and I also bought a new LT in June. We have also heard the whistling noise on the freeway. Started off it was anytime, now it is just when the wind is blowing. It is in the passenger door, but I am seeing the weather stripping is set and no gaps. I will keep looking. Just wanted you to know you were not going crazy.

it is the weather seal. service has a # for the fix and they wil add an additional strip to the rubber seal under the warranty
Have 2008 Aveo 5LS. More than just a whistle, it howls pretty good thru the defrost ducts at high speeds or medium speeds with wind. Seems to be from the air intake along bottom of windshield. Maybe design flaw?
The Silverado trucks have a similar whistle complaint which the fix ended up being loostening the moulding on the sides of the windshield using torx head driver inside the door and apply 3M 2 sided tape and then re-tighten the torx screws and the moulding will no longer vibrate and cause the noise.
Its the mirrors. I haven't gotten a fix yet but if you fold the mirrors in it doesn't make the noise anymore
