Normally This would be attributed to either a bad battery or bad starter or relay. Im guessing since you hear the clicking sound that the relay is fine. The most likely suspect is the solenoid like schalk mentioned. The solenoid or the starter motor is probably likely seized up. I must ask where did you buy your battery ? if you did not buy one directly from vw That could be your issue. All battery's from department stores or battery dealers are refurbished battery's. The dealer is the best place to pick up a new battery since they are generally never been used plus they take your old one and gives you a discount. I payed 128$ Canadian for my audi's battery. Have the battery tested again as its always possible even a new battery having a bad cell since they are as i said refurbished battery's.
