Program new key Issues 2008 Equinox

Had a new key made at dealership since lost keys. Told me how to program
(10 mins in acc mode then off 3x). Problem is can’t do this since when open
door with new key it doesn’t recognize alarm goes off. How do I turn off anti
theft so can program key?

I know darn but we didn’t have the car with us. Keys were lost while my son was at work. Car is still in work parking lot!
