What could be the cause of the transfer case changing modes by itself?
Asked by Trailblazer246 Sep 03, 2009 at 06:31 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer 2LT 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The dash control physicaly stays in 2WD mode but the indicator lamp and the transfer case moves to Auto mode or 4WD mode.
This happens only after using a different mode such as 4WD. After a while (week or so)there is no more issues. When the problem appears the dashborad yellow transfer case warning light comes on with no codes thrown. GM dealer has no ideas...
Thanks !

This is a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer LT2 4.2L
If the light comes on it should throw a code. The only thing I can think of is the transfer case getting stuck between a gear and it takes time to release it self. There could be a problem with the pressures in the case itself. Dont take my word for it but I know the had problems with a shaft in the transfer case causing the 4wd to slip and set a code. Good luck with that but with out looking at the car its hard to say.
