That was probably the end of your engine depending how long you drove it like that, if it was truly out of oil. Now that you had this happen you need to keep a close eye on the dipstick (if it restarts) because it'll probably burn oil like crazy and make lots of noise. You may need an engine rebuild if was ran for more than a minute sec with no oil. Good luck with all that :(
