I have a 2008 focus that is running hot. I can drive it for about 2 miles and it red lines the tempature gauge, when i get out and look at it my resiover is full and i set there about ten minutes and i can here some clicking and it will drain the resiover and the temp will be back to normal and i drive 2 more miles and the same thing over and over any ideal what might be wrong.

thermostat stuck closed, bad water pump.thing is you got a aluminum engine and heads and red lineing the temp guadge and onley letting it set 10 min and going again and getting it hot again, their is a very good possibility you have cracked and warped the heads.once theses engines hit 220 and it keeps getting hoter, you shut it down and dont start it until it is checked by a mechanic.I feel you let a $7.00.00 part turn into a major problem.

I had to replace the resistor in the radiator fan because it was corroded on my 2002 Focus.
I have a 2008 ford focus SE and I'm having the same problem. 2 miles it red lines. I cut the heat on and it cools down. If I cut the ac on it heats back up. Did you replace the thermostat or something else? I have to do something in the a.m. because i"ll be missing work if I don't. thanks!
my sons car was overheating is a 2003 ford focus SE with 113000 miles i looked at the fluid and it was brown not green took it to advance auto parts they told me to change the fluid which i did. the fluid had rust so it needed a flush 80.00 and then i changed the thermostat. i then run the car with the heat on for 15 miles that's all she wrote the car is running perfect no heating issues. cost 120 bucks. i did all the job myself and i know jack sh!@# about cars those guys at advanced auto parts are genius. firestone was charging me $600.00 for it what a rip off
this is a Ford Focus 2018 forum stop putting other cars here. My ford focus 2008 was heating up 4 - 3 weeks and we couldn't figure out what it is and everything was cool the engine radiator. recently I started smoking like white smoke from this steam of the radiator and the antifreeze came out because it was so hot. some ppl say to change the thermostat someone others are saying is the gas gasket. It doesn't make any sense the AC doesn't work

I have a Ford Focus Zetec s 2011. I noticed about 2 weeks the fan kept coming on often and I wasn't driving very far at all. One day I was driving home from work and noticed a loss of power, I looked at the temp and seen it rising to 120 degrees so I quickly pulled over and seen what look like oil leaking. There was a AA man parked next to me and asked him to have a look he said it was antifreeze leaking. Anyway I had a new antifreeze tub (whatever they're called) I've just drove it back where I collected it from and noticed that it was very hot again but obviously no leaking this time! Any suggestions?
i have chanched the thermostat out ywice now in my focus. first time it was styck open. tan riugh idled rough and got a dummy light telling me to check the thermostat. 1 year later it stuck closed. had driven 2 miles down the road the ac shut off. no warning lights looked over and the temp was pegged out. shut it down. towed it home replaced the thermo all ok again.
Always buy a fail-open thermostat when replacing...the worst that could happen is burn a little extra fuel because it is running too cool.
