2001 ford focus running hot

Asked by eren1093 Oct 18, 2012 at 07:41 PM about the 2001 Ford Focus LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car keeps running hot.  I got a
new thermostat, coolant reservoir,
and a coolant flush a month ago.  But
the car keeps running hot, the
temperature gauge never goes into
the red though. But the car gets so
hot till the engine goes off.

coolant temp sensor or cooling fan switch... drive a bit and get out "keep car running" and see if your cooling fan is on... should be if warm

To check to see if the fans actually do work, start the engine, turn on the A/C. If the radiator fans come on, then they should also run when the engine gets hot, if not, narrows down the fuse/sensor. Otherwise? Mine just got the water pump replaced, was doing the same thing.
