Was told today that my engine for 2008 Dodge Charger has to be swapped out. It's supposedly at a reputable mechanic. He says it will cost $4000 plus. Is this too much?

Call around different shop to see how much they charge. Are they installing a new engine? A rebuilt? A used? What's wrong with your engine?

They will be telling me more tomorrow. Said it was top portion of engine went out. Lost oil. No blown head gasket though. They are going for a new but I told them give me best estimate.

They said it would be cheaper to swap out whole engine instead of rebuilding top. Oil light never came on. I checked and had oil changes, lol. I know what people think since I am a blonde, lol.
