And is that a concern? I do not know much about cars but do not remember hearing that before :( (and thank you for your time)
"Only if you start getting a check engine light and the code is for the fuel vapor system. I owned a RX that would have fuel slosh when it hit just over 3/4 tank and then it would back off or wasn’t as noticeable after it hit 1/2 a tank. Drove it that way for years no problems with fuel vapor system" G A Arne,,,,,,thank you so much for the above answer. I just had a new fuel pump gasket and new fuel pump installed.....as the engine light did come on. It has not come on again but I hear that thumping, only once in a great while
Thank you so much! Wish I had your email address in case I have a different question later on :) Gary
I suppose the amount of swishing would depend on the tank baffles and how full the tank is. This is nothing to worry about.
F.O.R= thank you for your reply. I was a little concerned as just had the fuel pump gasket replaced and then a week later replaced the fuel pump. Thanks again for your expertise.
F.O.R. and G.A. Thank you both so much . I will keep cargurus saved so if I have more concerns can ask both you. Have a great evening and stay safe
I took the car to the mechanic who put in the fuel pump gasket and then the new fuel pump. He said the thumping could be from the fact that the newer fuel pumps are longer or shorter (forgot which one he said) and that as long as the engine light is not on which would signify a vapor leak, really nothing to be concerned with. Does this sound reasonable?
Thanks again for your expertise G A..........so again, think I can sort of relax about it as am really worried and uptight :(
