I'm looking to purchase a 2008 Jeep Cherokee Laredo. It has the engine light
on and they said the code is ots . What does this mean?

I never heard of a code "ots". Codes are not good news so they don't want to tell you but ask anyway. Get your own code reader for $10 (Ebay) and do your own scans then Google for more details. Could save you from buying a lemon. It will even show how recently codes were deleted....to conceal repairs not getting done. Buyer Beware.
