Possible faulty repair

Asked by Vita04 May 23, 2018 at 01:40 PM about the 2009 Dodge Journey SXT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently had my transmission rebuilt. The day after I got the car back the
transfer case broke. I took it back to the same mechanic and they state it was
nothing they did. Shouldn't the issue with the transfer case have been noticed
when the transmission was rebuilt?

Absolutely, I would definitely put them at fault for it since they were the last to touch it and if something was wrong, they should have at least told you and asked if you wanted it repaired.

A good mechanic always conduct a complete inspection of the system where is going to work to make sure that nothing else is damaged and, in such case, tell the customer before starting any repairs. Like the above advise says, the fault is with them, don't settle for lame excuses.
