I buy and repair cars, what I use to find out the value online is NADA (basically blue book value). Gives you a good price range except on selvaged cars which is below the lowest blue book value. http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx?LI=1-21-0-5002-844-923-59881&w=21&p=1&f=5004

www.kbb.com will ask you questions about the specific car and will give you a reasonable quote for what ever it is your looking for. I would be careful though, these days new cars are not exactly the way to go, a lot of people are getting upside down in their car payments because they are losing value so quickly. try looking into a 2008 Forester with low miles, you'll save money, and the risk wont be as great.
