hey guys do you know anything about the 1983 bmw 320i ? I dont know if i should buy it for 1000 $ if there is rust on it and 163.000 miles = 260.000k something like that and i wanted to know about the gaz pedale to cuz it seems weird there is a little button under the pedal that makes it go full throttle ????

The 320i is a nice car. It is also very different than its newer siblings. If you do not have a good working knowledge of the vehicle and do not plan on repairing it yourself the purchase price will be the least of your worries. There are few people who work on these any more and the parts are hard to get. In good condition it would be a great weekend car. As daily transportation you would be better off with a bus pass.

Bmw's are something Ive been driving my whole life and from experience it's not worth getting a car that old. You will definitely have to replace parts, although it's old it's still a BMW and the labor and parts will be expensive. Might as well get a Honda for 1000, it'll be cheaper to fix and everyone can work on that car. Only a few can work on Bmw's and out of those few people a fraction of them actually know what they are doing.

Actually i had an 83 bmw 320i as my daily and first bmw, did all the work myself. if the rust isnt too bad then thats not a bad deal as long as the interior is decent and it runs well. If you need parts rockauto.com has most at a decent price. I loved mine for the few years i had it, almost never gave me problems.

I wouldnt get it. There's too many things to factor in getting a car that old. If you're looking for an older bimmer I'd recommend finding one under 100k miles and with a complete service and maintenance history. With out them you'll end up paying more in repairs than you did for the car itself. The button your referring to is called "overdrive" only supposed to be used in "emergencies" :P

I just got an 83 320i 5 speed with a running blown engine took me 45 minutes to pull the engine and another hour of pulling parts off of it I'd say get it
