2009 4cyl Ford Escape Engine does not shut off when key is in off position and vehicle in park.

Asked by bigbirdjt Apr 18, 2014 at 05:41 PM about the 2009 Ford Escape XLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The question is self explanatory.  I did find that I can get the engine to turn off by putting the vehicle in reverse.  I've recently (2weeks ago) replaced my battery as recommended by a Ford Dealership for a no start issue.  I also have an aftermarket Viper remote start installed for 2 years. Help diagnosing this (or at least giving me some idea so I can meaningfully talk to a tech about the issue) would be appreciated.

You have a bad ignition module sensor that is not telling the computer to turn off the sending unit.
