Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 05 Ford Escape had to have a new computer put in.. Well now we tried to crank it and
all lights work but the car will not turn over.. I have a coded key and didnt know if the key
had to be reprogrammed or if there was a code that had to put in??? With the old
computer in it, it would still crank.

Can you hear your fuel pump turn on when u turn the key forward, don't crank it just go from off to all the way forward and listen for a hum. It will only last a few seconds then you'll have to repeat the process. Does your message center say "fail safe mode"? Usually if it cranks that means the key was coded. Did u get in an accident recently? Also can check the fuel inertia shut off switch.....look in your owners manual for that, it's usually by driver side kick panel or passenger side Koch panel
