2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Laramie 4x4. When I shift into drive, the "'D" no longer lights up, instead the +/- is lit and the number 4 appears.

When I shift into drive, the "'D" no longer lights up, instead the +/- is lit and the
#4 appears.  Just happened this morning.  I've gone through the manual but
cannot figure this out.  When accelerating from a stopped position the truck
feels sluggish and heavy.

Probably a fault in the transmission. Some of them default to 4th when there is an issue.
