Does it blow any air? If yes, then it might be you have a bad heater core valve, it would be near the water pump and would divert hot water to the heater core when you put the heat on.

I could get A/C any where i wanted. how ever when i switched to heat it was room temp at 2500 rpm got better on vent but not defrost. heat just is not happening all doors and temp blend are functioning properly. last shot disconnect heater core hoses hooked one to six feet of 5/8 hose put a funnel in hose hooked funnel to hood of truck. line 2 installed a air hose end in to line tighten with hose clamp.KEEP BOTH HOSE HIGHER THAN HEATER CORE. start pouring fluid in funnel when it comes out line 2 you now know that the core is full no air pockets at the highest point of cooling system. quickly disconnect your extention right where you are reconnecting. do same for 1 and 2 line I did this and the heat is kicking as well as every thing is working.perfect sorry no pick 2003 dodge ram 1500 4.7 4x4 good luck i push air through line with air fitting i got no rust i really think it was air blocked .
