There is a blend door actuator module that controls this, under the dash somewhere, electrical part that may be bad.

Now some times there is more that one, Now in your case it should be easy to determine which one you need, since the vent door is not directing the flow of air to the different vents. Just go to your locale parts store, they can get you the right one, if more than one.

Ford has a nasty little habit of positioning those electric PLASTIC actuators in locations which are not easy to get at. In earlier model explorers the dash has to come out of the vehicle. I suggest you surf the net for your particular model for a video showing how one is replaced.

The whole system in the 2010 is lacking a vacuum canister. Earlier models had a vacuum reservoir. You can replace the vacuum check valve in the engine compartment with a 3-way ("T" valve), find a vacuum reservoir (I have a part number for one that fits neatly in the engine compartment) and suddenly your issues will go away, run a hose from the T valve to the reservoir and suddenly your climate control system will do what it's told.
