Mass air flow sensor

Asked by Tim Aug 05, 2017 at 03:28 PM about the 2010 Subaru Forester 2.5 X Premium

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How long does it take for my mass air flow sensor
to work properly and the cell cruise and traction
lights to go off?

Clear the codes and the lights should go off. Either the MAF works or it does not.

Yup. If the MAF does NOT work check the connector first; then remove the sensor to carefully spray-clean its tiny nichrome thermo- sensor wire. If still no-go it's salvage yard time. Three restarts MIGHT reset indicators; if not, clear with scanner as FOR suggested.

Thanks guys, I found out I had a faulty spark plug wire, got new ones and lights went off and car runs like a champ.....bit now after about 50 miles lights are back....last code to deal with is an o2 sensor
