Can you prolong life of catalytic converter?

Cleaners can help but only if used when needed, over use can kill it. The best thing to do is make sure you run a good quality fuel in it, it doesn’t have to be premium octane. If you do a lot of stop and go driving or short trips then I recommend you hit the highway with it at least once a month and drive it for a good 20 miles at freeway speeds.
Also, keep the engine maintained. Most catalytic converter failures are caused by engines misfiring, burning oil, and leaking coolant internally that gets burned in the engine and comes out through the exhaust. Hope that helps! Jim
WOW it’s been almost a year so I guess it isn’t really pressing. There have been some advances in catalyst cleaners so check with your local parts store on the best one.
