Do catalytic converter shield work?

Will catalytic converter shield, prevent theft? Or, is it a waste of money? I'm
thinking of getting one, for 2010 Avalon limited.

A bolt on or welded shield professionally installed? My guess it would deter and or slow the thieves down, but not eliminate the possibility of it being cut out and stolen. If thieves want something bad enough they will find a way to take it.

Too bad there's not some kind of agency that apprehends thieves and finds some kind of punishment for their acts .

Anything that gives you peace of mind is worth it in my opinion. For example, I have always had locking gas caps on all of my vehicles. I know there are other ways for a crook to steal my gas but the locking cap is a deterrent and it gives me peace of mind. Hope that helps! Jim
