Nissan Sentra Manual Transmission Shift Problems
Asked by teenburgercombo Dec 11, 2018 at 07:02 AM about the 2010 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The collette in my shifter blew. I had to
replace the shifter assembly. However, I’m
still having issues shifting. Namely I can’t
shift into reverse. I think my shift control
cable is to blame. Any guides on how I could
troubleshoot this?

Hey what’s the part number for those shifter assemblies
My clutch will not shift some times It grinds and shifts some times. I had the clutch has been replaced along with the clutch and plate and everything it did shirt for about fifty miles or less. We bleed the system but did not shift
If your shifter is grinding with a new clutch and all supporting parts then the only culprit is that your synchro's on the transmission are too worn out and you either need to replace the transmission or rebuild it with new synchro's
2007 Sentra 2.0 6-speed, 230k miles- I recently replaced the shifter assembly sourced from the junkyard ($40 @150k miles), versus new ($400+) from the dealer. The shifter assembly is prone to wear at the plastic white yolk (excessive backlash/free play) and this causes the shifter to jam up between gears (limits Control cable throw), or lock up as it did for my wife shifting gears (shifter mechanism lock-up). Download the Nissan FSM (Factory Service Manual) and verify MA & MT sections for Control cable free play and that you have the proper shift throw. Reverse uses the collet (pull up) such that Reverse travel is allowed. This transmission uses double-cone & triple-cone synchronizers, it's well built, make sure to use factory spec oil for smooth shifting. Per FSM, capacity is (2 L) use API GL-4 (75W- 80) by Nissan (or ELF TRANSELF NFJ), or Redline MTL and change every 75k (FSM shows 100k). ~Happy Camping
Guys check out the solution here - get a upgraded billet shifter, for less than a new OEM unit. And better than plastic parts. https://privatelabelmfg.com/collections/shifter/products/precision-works-billet-shifter-nissan- sentra-b16-07-12

the bushing kit is available in mexico city. I am looking for a part number but I can't find it. Anyway, I will ask my technician just to remove the whole gear shift in order to ask a lathe operator just to make a new bushing and a new pin just to fix this assembly
