was in truck with heat on when air suddenly stopped working and sputtering/clanking noise started to happen

i was sitting in my drive way in my truck waiting for my friend to come out when all of a
sudden the heat stopped blowing and a foul smell came out now it does a sputtering
sound and wont even push air out unless i have max a/c on

The blower motor for the a/c - heat is probably shot. What you're smelling is overheated wire insulation or internal motor turnings.
