Why does my door chime go off every time I open the driver door (and only the driver door)?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
The key is out of the ignition, the car is in park, and the lights are off. The door ajar light
isn't flashing either. I've also checked the trunk to make sure it's latched. The dinging
stops as soon as I close the driver door.

Sounds like your ignition switch thinks the key is still in it.
My key is out of the ignition and the bell is going off and the light is lit on Park
I don't have an answer I'm trying to see what's wrong with it I want someone to give me an answer because it Chimes when I get out of my car and the car is in park but it still Chimes when I take the key out of the ignition
Check to see if your headlight switch is on park light. Shouldn’t make that noise if on auto.

Leave the key in, open the driver door then turn the truck off. This stopped mine from dinging.
I have the same issue with my truck --- I Park, shift into Park, Turn Engine Off, Remove Key from the ignition, Open Door to get out and the blasted Alarm/buzzer is going off --- YES, I am trying to get out of my Truck!! What am I supposed to do? Crawl through the Window??? Very irritating!!! Any suggestions?

My car chimes are going of constantly like my door is open but when I open and shut my door it goes quiet for a little bit then starts again why is that happening
Make sure you have your brake fluid full first. Then your instrument panel fuse out turn car on and off then reinsert instrument panel fuse. This fixed my C-max energi!
Keyless ignition and the chime kept going while driver's door was open and instrument panel said to turn off the motor. It already was off, of course. I read the answers here and elsewhere to the problem. It seems when my wife took it to the car wash, they somehow switched the headlights from automatic to on. I switched it back to automatic and the chime stopped.
the door chime contact next to the ignition cylinder has fallen out of the slot that it belongs in, it can be glued back in place

Same as GuruGVPQK. Keyless ignition with chime going off as door opened. Car was off, no other doors open, in Park. It was the headlights! Somehow got changed from automatic to on. Changed it back to automatic and that fixed the problem. 2020 Ford Edge Titanium.
I had the same problem in my Ford Kuga. It seems that when my car was in for it's service, the garage set the dial for my lights to be on. Following Guru9X1M1X post, I switched it back to automatic and the chime stopped.

Tim, if you ever read this, thank you so much. The chime has been annoying me for weeks. I didn’t think to look by the ignition, because I don’t know much about cars, but I unscrew the bottom cover and low and behold, this little piece of plastic with wires moves back and forth when you press it. I Push it back up in the slot and the chime stops. Brilliant. And thank you very much.

I shot some Gumout Carb Cleaner in the ignition. Then turned the key on and off rapidly several times, then in and out a few times. The dinging quit. In my case it was just sticking.
