I have a 2012 dodge ram 2500 cummins turbo diesel why would tow haul quit working and my turbo will not kick in.. also my transmission is not shifting right?

The turbo does not "Kick in" If the engine is off idle and producing enough exhaust the turbo should spool and start boosting the engine. If your above 1200 rpm there should always be boost available. The waste gate may be stuck open. As for the tranny and OD you will have to get someone to look at it. There is definately something wrong with the tranny. I take it there is no warranty?

there is a warranty. we are just stranded in the middle of Missouri. we were only about 200 miles from our destination. was hoping there was something that we could do without having to have the vehicle towed in. Is there such thing as a transmission transmitter? btw this is mikes girlfriend.. not wanting to make him look stupid. asking for help without him knowing. lol anyways no the turbo will not "kick in" at all..

Turbo If your giving it throttle, it should be making boost. With out a chip truck empty around 1200. With any load or a chip the 6.7 will make boost just off idle. If you have no boost there is something wrong. As for the Tranny is it completely controlled by the trucks computer. Two haul mode only does two things, changes the shift points (up and down) to better pull a load and boosts the tranny's line pressure which allows the clutch packs to grip tighter before slipping under higher loads. Even without tow haul that truck should be shifting up and down to maintain speed. How much weight are you pulling right know??

he has finally wake up and I explained what you said. he said that you are correct about all of the above but I am explaining it to you wrong. He says as he goes up a hill it loses power. says as you press on the gas expecting to get a lower rpm torque instead it loses its power. The RV is about 15,000 lbs. It's a 2007 cardinal 38 foot 5th wheel. With three slides.

Well 15,000 lbs is a decent pull. The 6.7 would normally handle it. I've pulled 33,000 lbs with my dad's 08 with the 6.7 6spd, touch over weight. It's normal to loose some speed on the hill's. So the tranny will not downshift at all. You have to manually bump it down with the toggle. And at the start of the hill do you have boost and loose it or your truck is not making boost at all.

Well we finally had it serviced at the dealership and all our issues came from bad gas.

Glad you figured it out. Now the 6.7 can pull like it should, again.
