When you say loud is it coming from the engine or underneath the vehicle ? If coming from engine need more information. If coming from underneath vehicle you may have a exhaust leak.

I have a 2014 cruze 1.4 L turbo. I noticed that on 87 octane gas the engine just was very loud grunting and seemed to vibrate harshly. Once i switched over to full synthetic oil and a few tank of 91 octane it got much happier. still grunts from 1.8k rpm to 3k rpms as i accelerate however it runs so much quieter in the cabin. I know the ecu will use most octanes the same. but i get better mpg on 91 and my cruze to me runs better. Just what I have noticed. However what works for me may not for you. oil changes are pricy and gas is a few dollar more. but then why run a turbo car on the cheap?
