2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4 wheel drive

Asked by Trzaski10 Feb 01, 2017 at 12:28 PM about the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4WD

Question type: General

So i bought my car in June and yesterday was my first time driving it in
snow. I felt like I had no control whatsoever and that i was never in 4 wheel
drive. i have no knob or anything to manually put it in 4 wheel and was told
that it will "automatically" go into it when needed. I've had jeeps prior to this
one with 4 wheel capability so i know what it feels like when its in 4 wheel
drive and i never got that feeling while skidding around yesterday. I called
my dealership today and asked them about it and they said it should always
be in All wheel drive but i felt like i was in 2 wheel drive the whole time. Also
on the back of my jeep is a "4X4" sign , so shouldnt that mean i have 4
wheel drive capability. Im bringing to dealership in the morning but wanted to
post on here and see if anyone had any comment about this. Thank you.

Yes the the WJ2 is all wheel drive in when it feels that it looses traction there is 2 gears in the case that controls the power you have high and low but it stays in all wheel drive

I have a 2011 also your shifter when in drive if you push it to the left will go down to 1st gear then push it to the right 3 more times to bring it up to 4th to activate the 4 wheel drive although the 2011 has an independent suspension it differs greatly that the 05 to the 2010s which have much much better control in all weather conditions
