Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Goes away in a minute or two.   Looked everywhere but don't see fuel leaking anywhere.  Anyone else ever had this problem?

Surely sounds like a faulty fuel line. Especially since it runs beneath the driver's seat. When was the last time you changed them out?

Well it's not like you change all your fuel lines every time you do a tuneup. I just bought the car a couple months ago. I've never done fuel lines. Why would the smell go away the longer it ran though? Seems like it would be the opposite. Also, after it sat their should be a puddle somewhere.

As the vehicle warms up, the rubber fuel line swell/expands and can possibly close the hole up. My last e30 did that to me. The other aspect is that fuel evaporates. You would have to have a pretty decent leak to have a puddle. The upside is that you caught it early.

Nice help. Thanks! Now where does the actual fuel line run from the tank to the engine?

Indeed, with a fuel filter in line, which would be a good idea to replace in the process. If you don't already own a Bentley or Hayes manual, I would get one. Also, if your AC starts acting up, there is a simple fix. Let me know if you need any more help. I love e30's.

I have a Chilton's, but it only talks about changing the fuel pump and injectors... it kind of leaves out all the hose in between.
