trying to replace a starter on a 1998 528i need location of starter an what tools i need

The starter is attached to the bell housing so it can turn the flywheel- on the side of the engine, left or right, and down low, usually- you can't see it? Maybe you should have someone else do this, because FINDING the starter is the first, most critical step- then you can see what tools you need- most of the time they come out from under the car, and if you are jacking the car up and getting under it, that is really, really dangerous and not worth the few bucks you save by doing it yourself-
