Instrument gauges go to zero while driving then back to normal.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
Five times while driving the gauges momentarily went to zero then back to normal. The Escape is new and the local Ford service MGR says he has not heard of that. Has any of you had a similar problem?

No, I haven't seen that before. It could be a couple if things. The local service manager should have told you to bring it in. Regardless of what it is they need to fix it since it's new.
Clint, thanks. I talked to the local Service Manager when it first happened. He was not aware of that happening before. After I brought it last week, He kept it and notified Ford. After a long wait, Ford replied there is a tech bulletin about the wiring harness. It seems there is a problem with the wiring harness attachment to the temp gauge which gets corrosion. They fixed it; we'll see what happens.
My 2004 Ford Escape has done this twice today,
Yea I have a 2004 Ford escape and the speed gage and all the gages go from normal to shut down then back to normal .the engine stays b normal no cut offs or malfunction.
yes, they jump sitting still , in drive and at a light . its pretty much does it under a load. I believe it has to do with the coils. I put in a set of ebay coils, cheap ones .[ life time ] no 6 out , using my old ones , i changed 5 and 6 coils, two hours later , the gauges went wild .no 4 coil lost power .change that one truck runs great .hope it works for you.
