2011 Subaru Outback 3.6R PZEV vs 2009 Honda CRV EXL 2.4L

Question type: General
Can someone give me advice on which one of these cars would be best and
most reliable without spending big $$$$ on mntnc or mech issues? And if a
CVT 6 cyl is better than a 4cyl...going for efficiency also? I'm told you use less
gas with 6cyl cause its more powerful? true?

Clearly the CRV with the smaller motor will get better gas mileage. The CRV also has an automatic transmission which is better and more reliable than a CVT in my opinion. However the Subaru will have the better AWD system. The choice is yours.
Keep in mind that both of these are old cars so have a mechanic check them out BEFORE buying them. How many miles on the cars?

there at a dealership so i know they checked them out first, you think i should still take it to mechanic to check out first? CRV has 97km, outback has 112km, both low mi but OB $3000 more expensive. ive looked at carfax also looked good not in rust belt. lol
Having them checked out is up to you. If you trust the dealer I suppose you can take their word that the cars are good but do they stand behind their cars with a warranty? Whatever you do don't buy a rusty car.
