Starter problems
My truck is making a bad noise it sound like
horribly grinding and it will not crank. I have
also had a bolt removed from the block. Do
you have any idea what it is.
So first off, I am not a pro, but I've worked on my cars and motorcycles and have owned a lot of them. It sounds like it could be either a) the starter's internal clutches are bad which is causing slipping and not enough torque to turn the ring gear on the flywheel which turns the engine over or b) electrically, internally the starter is worn and cannot energize and extend its pinion gear to engage the same ring gear on the same flywheel. Bottom line, start with replacing the starter motor with rebuilt or new one.
