2007 F-150 4X4 Transmission Noise
Asked by John Apr 22, 2011 at 07:30 PM about the 2007 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew Short Bed 4WD
Question type: Maintenance & Repair
When going up a hill and transmission shifts from Overdrive to third I get a noise similar to driving over a rumble strip. It's a real heavy duty vibration. It only lasts for a second or two until it shifts down. This doesn't happen on flat level hiway or when I punch the gas to accelerate or pass.

how many miles on your truck ? and have you ever had the transmission serviced ?
I purchased last November at 85000 k's. It now has 91000 kilometres or 55000 miles. No, I have not had it serviced. Would you recommend a fluid and filter change before letting a Ford garage diagnose for $99.
this sounds like a internal problem,a fluid, filter change most likely wont solve the problem.
Did you ever figure out the problem? Mine did the same thing yesterday.
No, vehicle is still at Ford garage being worked on. Will let you know what they say when I pick it up. It's been there 16 days now.
The tranny was completely rebuilt, everything was replaced and lucky for me on warranty!!! Service manager was gone for the day when I picked up truck so have no Idea what was the cause of the vibration. Will still try and get an answer for you.
just change tranny oil just in case and add trans oil additive or just the additive but whenever ya get a vehivle you should always change the fluids in it just to be safe
