What could be wrong if my door chime proceeds even when my key is out of the ignition and my key fob will not lock doors?

Asked by casc805 Jan 15, 2016 at 11:59 AM about the 2011 GMC Terrain SLE1

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It happened suddenly when I went to get out of the car my door chime was still dinging as I opened my door but I realized I had my keys in my hand.  I then thought that my lights may still be on but they weren't.  I then got out of the car and tried to lock it with my key fob and it wouldn't lock.

This is more than likely a anti theft issue, being the truck does not reconize your fob,you may need to have a dealer or mechanic take a look at it.

This also happened to me and the mechanic couldn't figure it out, I think they screwed it up after fixing brakes and a few other things

I just had the same problem, but figured it out in 10 mins or less. I checked everything and when I got to the light switch someone turned the lights in a different position. As soon as I moved the light switch to AUTO the problem stopped.
