Volkswagen Jetta ABS, Airbag, Brake, and TC lights

Asked by Jonathan Feb 11, 2020 at 08:09 PM about the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So back in Dec. 2018 I got this Jetta and a month
later, the ABS light, Airbag, Brake, and Traction
Control lights all came on. They turn on every time
the moment I start the car. The car continued to
stop safely so I drove it regularly. Sometimes they
all turn off after the car has been on. Say I take the
car on the road and get everything warmed up for
about a half hour, all the lights won’t be on when it
starts up but turns on a while after. I took it to the
shop and they said I need a new ABS module.
Unless there’s an alternative, I’m not paying for a
new module. Any suggestions to what may be
going on aside from the solution being to get a new
ABS module.
Note: The tire pressure light also comes on and
stays on no matter what. Yes my tires are pumped
to the correct pressure and I reset it using the
button in the glove box

Have you checked your fuses? I had something similar happen to a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta, they ended up pulling a fuse out and putting it back in the wrong slot. Found the slot where the fuse was missing and all of the lights turned off. So that could be a possibility if you’ve messed with fuses recently, otherwise I’d suggest looking over your fuses and checking for any blown.

It's nice to know i'm not alone. I have the same issues and have researched all the codes from my cars scan. The ABS module will almost certainly fix the problem, if you don't want to replace that whole module, try replacing your wheel speed sensors (TDI speed sensors cost more than standard VWs) They are cheaper than replacing the whole module. It's common in Volkswagens for the rear sensors to stop working and throw a bunch of codes on the dash. Hope this helps, Im still in the process of fixing my own and will keep this chat updated

I replaced a few bad fuses this past weekend on my 2012 Jetta 2.5 SE and now also have the TC and TPMS sensor lights on. I cannot reset the TPMS, it blinks once when i click the reset button but then stays on solid in the dash (as does the TC light). It seems I have incorrectly replaced a fuse and now unsure exactly how to find which ones this relates to since the owner's manual does not come with a fuse box diagram (for either under the dash or under the hood). If anyone knows which fuse slot this pertains to and amperage, please advise thanks
