2011 4.0 4x4 slow to shift into 4wd

2011 ranger 4.0 4x4 slow to engage 4wd if I turn the switch 2 or 3 times it will
engage

Sounds like early warning of either the transfer case shift motor getting ready to fail or an internal transfer case problem. When was the transfer case serviced?
