Is it unsafe to drive with a loose/bad center bearing?

Asked by Tah765 Apr 15, 2019 at 05:22 PM about the 2011 Subaru Forester 2.5 X Touring

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2011 Forester that I have to drive
about an hour and a half round trip tomorrow
while I have a center bearing is loose/bad. I
have noise and a decent shudder during
acceleration. I really need to be able to get to
the airport tomorrow and I was wondering if it
would be awful for me to drive it anyway? :(

1 Answer

Yes it can be unsafe. If it fails completely and drops a drive shaft the results could be disastrous.
