2011 ford truck

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My son drives his 2011 ford truck daily.
Last night he gets in it after works. Cranks
it but transmission want engage into drive
reverse or anything.... Any ideas? Thx

If it is a 6 speed tranny he'll have to check the fluid level from underneath via the plug. I believe the 4 speed tranny still has the dip stick.

Someone said it possibly could be a fuse? My husband will be home Friday to check more into what's going on with it. But we aren't mechanics & hate to have it towed for no telling what then it be a simple fix. I've sent my son all this so maybe this will give them a start on finding the issue . Thx so much

Does the shifter move freely when shifted through the gears? If the shifter is mounted on the column, is it loose? Trying shifting the indicator to neutral then try to push the vehicle forward or backward. If the vehicle does not move, it's stuck in park and may indicate a linkage problem.
