Why does the oil pressure keep dropping

Asked by Sugarrae52 Mar 14, 2020 at 03:56 PM about the 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LS Crew Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Oil pressure gauge indicating no oil pressure.  Had
it in the shop and they said I need a new engine.  
However they took off the oil pan and said it
needed cleaned and then put back together.  Ran
well for 6 weeks now doing it again.  Shop said not
the gauge and screen and things look clean.  
Pressure hanging at 20.  No smoke, engine sounds
good and everything else seems to be fine.  Ideas?

Use a mechanical pressure gauge to verify the oil pressure.

Oil sending unit going out, agree with F.O.R. check with pressure gauge
