Unusual sounds in the 2010 Jetta Sportwagon

Asked by Katiezee1 Apr 12, 2014 at 10:48 PM about the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen S FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just purchased a used 2010 Jetta TDI sportwagon, 44K on it and I noticed a faint but
annoying siren sound that starts at 1500 RPM under load. Is this typical for the
Sportwagon? I have 5 days to return the car if necessary. I don't recall hearing this sound
when test driving it.

turbo yes indeed, may have sucked a gasket to the vanes . did you have the filter cover off? an o shaped gasket although made of harmless material can be pulled in if not careful and brush the spinning vanes, just remove the plastic ducts and pluck it out, you'll see an improved boost also
