WHY-2012 Jetta Sportwagon-DRL stay on when car is not locked

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a new to me 2012 Jetta Sportwagon (10k miles) and in less than 2 months I've
depleted a battery ($155) by forgetting to lock my car and the damn DRL or other lights
remain on.
Why would the light not turn off after 10 minutes or something? How do I fix this as I
never lock my car in my garage.

I have seen issues like this only when an accessory has been installed, does it have a turbo timer, amp or any accessory or retrofit???
No nothing. As far as I know the car is stock. When I open the hatch, and close it, it beeps and locks the car. Why can't closing the 4 doors do the same. That would solve my problem.
then if the car is stock you would need to read the codes, you have to read the codes with VAG software so you can scan the comfort module and doors, maybe you have a bad door lock or something like that. Sometimes you need to read the actual values of the car and test all door locks and all functions to really know what is wrong.
Yes, I agree. Looks like a trip to the dealer on my day off.
