Why does my VW Jetta horn go off randomly and how do I fix it.

Asked by bellesmom Apr 27, 2014 at 10:43 AM about the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Periodically the horn on my 2010 Jetta Sportwagon TDI just goes off by itself.  To stop it you have to stop, turn off the ignition and start again.  Sometimes this fixes it and sometimes it still beeps when the ignition id re-engaged.  Would it help if I removed the fuses?  Can I disconnect the horn.  Help please...I can't get it to the dealer right away.

Does it beep when you are turning the wheel? Chances are it is either the horn button on the steering wheel or some loose wire or bad connection down in the steering column- yes, you can find the horns under the grill or the front fender and pull the wires off-
